HISTORY
Moriko is probably one of those most unluckiest in life, whether it was before, during or after the apocalypse. Bad luck has been following her ever since her five year on this cruel world like a shadow, not willing to leave her side under any cost.
When Moriko was young, she was living somewhat peaceful in a nearby town of Shibuya with her parents and her younger brother Ame. Shortly after the birth of Ame, and on top of that on Moriko's third birthday, her parents had a huge argument and decided to divorce. No big deal, right? She was too young to fully understand either way, being quite the happy toddler she just was, playing around with her brother Ame and trying to cheer up her mother after the divorce. She might not have fully understand what was going on, but.. She could tell her mother acted different. Whenever she would ask where her father was, her mother replied with 'on a business trip, my dear.'.A year after the divorce, her mother fell into deep depressions. She never laid a hand on her children at that point though, but she did start to neglect both the young Ame and Moriko to the points where they were unwashed and close to starvation and dehydration. Her mother did not allow them to go on the streets, but they had a nice little house with a garden where they were allowed to play in. So, in the summer of her fifth year, there was again that point where her mother had neglected both Moriko and Ame.
Moriko was just worried of her sickish looking, not well-fed little brother, who had been two at that time and was just way too small and weak for his age. So she took him to the garden to play with her and ended up slipping out of the garden with him, she always told him 'Mama loves us! But we need to find a new Mama.' while walking hand in hand through the town with him. Moriko never did lose faith in her mother after all. They were gone for two solid days until the police found them and brought them back to her worried mother. After the police was gone and everything was over, her mother started to beat Moriko up for her disobedience. She took out that rage that she had built up over the years on child. While her mother was yelling at her and beating her up, Ame interfered and cried, begged for their mother to stop. Though of course, her mother didn't listen and literally knocked the little Ame away, who stumbled very harshly against the corner of the glass table in their living room. As you might or might not know, a child's head is very soft and can be damaged really easily, and this was especially the case for the young Ame, who hasn't gotten enough nutrients and vitamins to actually strengthen his bones and body. It caused a heavy cerebral concussion and brain- and internal bleeding. Her mother didn't notice the damage and Ame died just one day after the incident, on Moriko's birthday.
When the police came to investigate, Moriko yelled and claimed it was her to protect her mother. She just didn't want to believe her mother did it on purpose, so she wanted to take the blame with her young and innocent five years. The police believed her, but still took her away from home. It was supposed to be temporary, however after the caretaker of the orphanage Moriko was sent to noticed the bruises and also a lot of wounds, it was clear that the mother was involved in Ame's death. They questioned Moriko once again and she admitted that it was her mother then. The nice caretaker told her she wouldn't need to be scared of her mother anymore, which Moriko replied with 'I was never scared of Mummy!'.
Her mother was put on probation as the judges claimed she was mentally incompetent to that time. So what did Moriko do? She ran away from the orphanage, all across town to her mother -and also getting lost a couple of times-, just to find an emotional wreck. Of course she didn't fully understand what has happened.. So she, of course, approached her mother, who responded with violence. She nearly killed Moriko and was only stopped by the police, the neighbors informed the police after hearing the distant crying of a child. Moriko suffered great damage, but she was very stubborn and strong-willed. She wanted to live, so after a few days of being in a critical state, she found herself in the hospital. Her mother was in a psychiatric ward and while Moriko was struggling to fit back in with the other children at the orphanage, who kept asking and joking about her family, managed to commit suicide, and again on Moriko's birthday morning
Moriko was left heart broken as she heard the news in the afternoon. Being six years old now, Moriko could progress way more and seemed to be more mature than other children, however developed a very aggressive behavior towards other children and a passive aggressive one towards strangers. School didn't do her too good either. She was bullied a lot, the popular girls in her elementary school were jealous of her because of whatever reason, Moriko never actually got to know the reason why. She was nothing special, she wasn't the teacher's pet, not popular with the boys or anything. And yet the bullies stole her things, hid her (soaked) bag, cut her hairs, beat her up for two whole years. Then, on this cursed day, her ninth birthday, she was sick of the treatment and fought back. She got pushed around along the streets, kicked in the back and all sort of things. Moriko turned around and pushed the 'leader', if you can phrase it like that, of the group onto the streets. She got hit by a car, but survived. Of course Moriko blamed herself.
But after that, she told the caretaker that was always especially nice to her about everything. She then joined a jiu-jitsu team to learn self defense and started regular training to get stronger, joining a lot of sportive clubs. Though it was no use as just half a year after the incident, the whole apocalypse happened. The caretaker she entrusted herself to so dearly died and the children she grew to.. Dislike got killed by a small group of very bloodthirsty vampires. It was a real miracle that Moriko managed to hide and escape from the vampires. She was picked up by young adult survivors of the apocalypse and bugged and bugged them to train her. She wanted revenge, even if she disliked most of the kids at the orphanage, they were still kind of her family! And it really did happen, though four years after the apocalypse as they thought she'd be too young to really train her. She started training very hard and managed to join the Moon Demon Company. And during her very first mission in her new squad- surprise! It was on her fifteenth birthday!-, her whole squad got extinguished by a Four Horsemen of John. That was when Moriko declared her birthday and her birth itself as a curse, she isolated herself from most people and practically locked herself up for days and days after that until someone from the Moon Demon Company wrecked her room and told her to get a hold onto herself. He tried to encourage her to keep on training and to become stronger to defeat the bad luck, or at least be able to protect the ones she loves even with bad luck.
The truce.. She doesn't like it, she hates seeing vampires just walk among humans as if nothing ever happened. Though the tension between humans and vampires is still clearly visible, to her at least. That's why she'd rather contract a demon and fight the vampires, but she would never break the precious truce that would let humanity recover to a certain point.
